The future Carnival Sunshine, also known as
the remade Carnival Destiny, will have a racing-themed water park when it emerges from a 49-day renovation in April, Carnival Cruise Lines said.
The WaterWorks park will feature a 300-gallon drenching bucket in a kids’ play area and the Speedway Splash: side-by-side, 235-foot-long slides with lighting effects and racers’ times displayed on a scoreboard.
The enclosed, 334-foot-long Twister slide will feature a clear tube that extends over the edge of the ship.
As for dining options, Carnival said the Sunshine will have an Asian restaurant with an open kitchen. Diners will pay $12 per person at dinner; lunch is complimentary.
The Shake Spot will serve classic milkshakes as well as shakes with liqueurs. The Havana Bar will be a casual establishment serving Cuban coffee and finger foods during the day. At night, Havana Bar will feature live music, dancing and Cuban cocktails.
Located adjacent to Shake Spot on the Promenade Deck will be JavaBlue Cafe, a place to buy a specialty coffee and a pastry.
Pizzeria del Capitano will be an expansion of Carnival’s Cucina del Capitano family-style Italian restaurant. Chefs will prepare five kinds of thin-crust pies in a traditional pizza oven. It will be complimentary and open 24 hours.
The Carnival Sunshine will also have features of the line’s Fun Ship 2.0 enhancement, including Guy’s Burger Joint, the RedFrog Rum Bar, the Blue Iguana Cantina and the EA Sports Bar.
