Enchantment of the Seas bow plans come unhinged

MIAMI -- Royal Caribbean International pulled the plug on its plan to hinge the bow on the Enchantment of the Seas when the ship is lengthened next year.

The original plan was to allow the tip of the bow to flip up in order to squeeze the lengthened ship into the Panama Canal locks. But a spokeswoman said that since the ship isnt scheduled to go through the Canal, the hinge project was put on hold.

Since ... the installation time is so fast, it doesnt hurt us to wait until the ship actually has a schedule to go through [the canal] to put hinges on the bow, she added.
