Estefan, Seymour among Oasis' seven godmothers

By Johanna Jainchill

Three Olympic medalists, three television personalities and an international singing star will serve as the seven godmothers to the Oasis of the Seas when the ship is named Nov. 30 in Fort Lauderdale.

Singer and songwriter Gloria Estefan will become godmother to a second Royal Caribbean ship – she is godmother to the Empress of the Seas.

The other six are Michelle Kwan, the most decorated figure skater in U.S. history; English actress Jane Seymour, a winner of Emmy and Golden Globe awards; swimmer Dara Torres, who competed in five Olympics and won a total of 12 medals in those Games; gymnast Shawn Johnson, winner of a gold and three silver medals at the 2008 Olympics; actress Keshia Knight Pulliam, best-known for her childhood role as Rudy on "The Cosby Show" in the 1980s; and TV personality and model Daisy Fuentes.

Royal Caribbean said each of the seven godmothers was chosen because they personify strength of character and exemplify the spirit of giving.
