Norwegian Breakaway to have New York-themed ice bar

By Tom Stieghorst

The Norwegian Breakaway will get a customized version of the ice bar first introduced on the Norwegian Epic.

The room will accommodate about 25 people and will have a New York theme, featuring ice sculptures of the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge and a half dozen New York-inspired cocktails.

The bar, seating and glasses will be made entirely from ice. Guests will get hooded coats and gloves to keep warm in the room, which is chilled to 17 degrees Fahrenheit.

Breakaway begins sailing year-round from New York next year, going to Bermuda in the summer and Florida, the Bahamas and the southern Caribbean in the winter.

  • Consumer media discover that travel agents do exist

"Contrary to some thoughts, travel agents do exist ... We are usually able to get clients better prices, and we know we can see that clients have better experiences. And as our personal motto is: Our Service Travels With You."
