Princess promotes virtual christening of renamed ship

By Johanna Jainchill

Princess Cruises' christening of the Ocean Princess is a virtual affair, and anyone who signs up online can become an "honorary godparent."

On Wednesday, the former Tahitian Princess departed Singapore on its first cruise as the Ocean Princess after a two-week drydock.

Princess said the naming ceremony would occur online, and that it would donate $1 for each godparent to the New England Aquarium, up to $25,000.

The virtual christening will run throughout the ship’s 16-day Southeast Asia cruise, ending on Dec. 18.
