The 2,678-passenger Sapphire Princess has emerged from a monthlong renovation.

The Princess Cruises ship has a new atrium, the adults-only Sanctuary area, two dining venues and a large outdoor movie screen.

This winter, the ship is sailing a series of Hawaii, Mexico and California cruises.

"Making these changes to Sapphire Princess was an important step to ensure that our signature shipboard features can be found wherever our passengers want to sail," said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises' executive vice president.

The upgrades were completed at the Victoria Shipyard in British Columbia.
