Holland America Line has completed renovations on the Rotterdam, resulting in the addition of enhancements under HAL’s Signature of Excellence program.

When the Rotterdam departed Fort Lauderdale for a cruise on Dec. 16, the ship had the Mix lounge, Retreat pool with lounge chairs in the shallow water, Canaletto Italian restaurant, Merabella jewelry shop, Showroom at Sea and lanai staterooms.

Twenty-three cabins near the spa have become spa staterooms that feature a variety of enhanced spa amenities.

On the lower promenade deck, 44 new lanai staterooms have been created by replacing existing windows with lanai doors that open directly onto the walk-around promenade.

The Maasdam, Ryndam and Statendam will receive Signature of Excellence enhancements beginning in early 2010. The Veendam received the enhancements last April.

Future enhancements will be completed in two phases. In 2010 and 2011, the three ships will receive the Mix lounge, Showroom at Sea, Canaletto, other public area enhancements and stateroom upgrades.

In 2012 and 2013, HAL will add the Retreat pool, new staterooms on the aft portion of ships and spa staterooms.

This article has been updated to reflect the correct number of lanai staterooms on the Rotterdam.
