The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach
Resort and Spa has completed its one-year, $100 million renovation.
The hotel, which is owned by
Blackstone Group, upgraded all of its 1,230 rooms, adding items such as
surfboard-inspired desks, bidet-style toilets and 55-inch televisions.
Blackstone, which acquired
leasehold improvements to the 39-year-old hotel in 2013 for about $450 million,
is investing in an Oahu hotel market that last year was the country’s
second-most lucrative to New York. Oahu hotels’ 2014 room rates averaged $221,
while occupancy was more than 84%, according to STR.
