Recognizing that it is not
just adults who enjoy spa treatments like body massages, herbal-scented facials
and hot stone therapies, the all-inclusive Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit has
extended similar but kid-oriented experiences to its younger guests, ages 4 to
12.
The 25-minute Marine
Adventure Massage includes a plush octopus with soft tentacles “to caress and
soothe the body, an octopus scalp massage, a sea brush to remove excess sand
and a special massage cream,” according to a resort spokesman.
Kids also get a juice drink
and a surprise gift at the end of the session, which takes place in the pop-up,
on-the-beach Marine Kids’ Spa Cabana decorated with animated sea creatures and
conch shells.
The Marine Adventure Massage
treatment costs $65 and runs through Aug. 16, but the resort offers additional
spa treatments for kids on a year-round basis, including various massages that
include Pancho’s Marble Massage, Tarzan and Jane Massage, Princess Massage and
Flower Shower Massage.
Spa programs for teens are
offered at Grand Velas’ resort in the Riviera Maya, including a massage using
golf balls.
Other resorts in Mexico that
offer spa treatments for kids include the JW Marriott Cancun; the Ritz-Carlton,
Cancun; One&Only Palmilla in Los Cabos; Villa Del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto;
Hilton Los Cabos; and Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos.
