Puerto Vallarta will be the site of the 2012 Tianguis Turistico trade fair next March.

Puebla and Quintana Roo (the state where Cancun, Cozumel and the Riviera Maya are located) will host the event in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Tianguis, Mexico’s largest tourism trade show, had been held in Acapulco for the last 36 years, but the Mexico Ministry of Tourism announced earlier this year that it would break that tradition in order to promote different regions of the country.

While holding the trade fair in Puerto Vallarta, Tianguis will also promote the nearby Riviera Nayarit, a region that includes Nuevo Vallarta, San Blas, Punta Mita and Banderas Bay.
