Resorts in Mexico's southern Baja peninsula Monday were reporting damage from Hurricane Odile, which hit Cabo San Lucas Sunday night as a Category 3 storm.

The Westin Los Cabos and the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar both were damaged by heavy winds and rainfall. Power currently is being supplied by generators, according to a spokesman.

There were no injuries to guests; hotel staff is supplying water and food to guests.

Staff will help guests make travel arrangements home when airport operations resume, the resorts said.

The Los Cabos airport remained closed Monday.

At the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort, all guests and staff were accounted for. "At this early stage, we do not have a definitive assessment of the damage," Hilton said in a statement. "Our immediate priority is to care for our guests and team members and we are doing everything we can to minimize the effect on them.

"At this time, the hotel is no longer accepting reservations. We will reexamine the hotel status once a full assessment of physical damage has been completed."

Odile had estimated winds of 127 mph at landfall, according to AccuWeather.

Approximately 24,000 tourists and 6,000 Mexicans spent the night in hotel rooms that were transformed into shelters, according to local news reports. Another 7,000 residents were evacuated from the hardest hit areas, officials said.

There were reports of looting in Los Cabos stores on Monday before troops arrived to restore order.
