Africa Adventure Consultants’ new Uganda Flying Safari promises a fresh take on the traditional gorilla and chimp safari, replacing long drives in favor of more time for wildlife tracking and in-country experiences.
Over 10 days, travelers will go on a guided Kibale Forest trek in search of chimpanzees and eight other primates; take a swamp walk in Bigodi, a village in the Western Uganda highlands near the “Mountains of the Moon”; experience Queen Elizabeth National Park’s crocodiles and hippos; and stalk Ishasha’s tree-climbing lions, in addition to two days of gorilla trekking in Bwindi.
Accommodations range from the newly built, four-star Protea Hotel in Entebbe to the unique luxury Kyaninga Lodge, featuring solar-powered private cabins built from more than 1,000 hand-carved logs set against the blue waters of Lake Kyaninga.
The safari ranges from $4,756 per person with seven people traveling to $6,479 per person for two, excluding airfare to and from the U.S. and gorilla and chimp permits.
Africa Adventure Consultants, which specializes in creating custom itineraries to 13 countries in Africa, offers eight different primate-tracking tours to Uganda and Rwanda.
