Travel Weekly wins business journalism award

The Travel Weekly editorial staff was awarded the Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Award for outstanding work in the category "Best Single Issue of a Newspaper" for publications with more than $7 million in gross advertising/circulation revenue.

The award, considered the Pulitzer of business media, was accepted by Travel Weekly Editor in Chief Arnie Weissmann in a ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental New York on March 11.

The winning issue was published on Oct. 26, 2009.

"This is a tremendous honor for Travel Weekly and a tribute to the hard work and professionalism of the entire staff," Weissmann said. "Everyone contributed to the winning issue."

The award is administered by the 255-member American Business Media, the trade association for business-information companies. Judging by business-media editors takes place in a three-stage screening process. There were 842 entries this year across multiple categories.

Travel Weekly had been a finalist in this category in 2008 and 2009.
