Gunnison-Crested Butte, Colo., is gearing up for the 11th annual Gunnison River Festival, scheduled for June 19 to 23.
The festivities will include a film festival at I Bar Ranch, a boat tour of Black Canyon and a Gunnison River Festival Extravaganza on July 21 at Legion Park, featuring live music.
The area, home of Crested Butte Mountain Resort, is known for its rafting, sailing and kayaking, and this entire upcoming season looks especially promising, thanks to abundant snow last season and plenty of recent rainfalls.
“There will be peak flows in the middle of summer and good flows for float fishing until the end of the season, so it will be much better than last year,” said Mark Schumacher, owner of Three Rivers Resort & Outfitting in Almont.
Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport is accessible by air for the 2013 summer/fall season via United Airlines with direct flights from Denver.
