Scenic launches sixth ship, Scenic Crystal

By Michelle Baran

Scenic Cruises launched its sixth river cruise ship, the 169-passenger Scenic Crystal, in Rudesheim, Germany, last week.

The vessel features a new balcony concept for Scenic, the Scenic Sun Lounge, whereby a glass panel on the stateroom balconies can be raised or dropped depending on the weather so that guests can have either an open-air or enclosed balcony.

There are three dining areas onboard: a fine-dining restaurant called Portobello, where food is prepared in front of guests; a casual breakfast and lunch venue called River Cafe; and the main restaurant, Crystal Dining, which features a chef’s table.

The Scenic Crystal is 443 feet long and has cabins and suites ranging from 164 to 315 square feet.

The new ship will sail itineraries along the Danube River. The Scenic Crystal joins the Scenic Pearl, Scenic Emerald, Scenic Sapphire, Scenic Diamond and Scenic Ruby.

Scenic Cruises is owned by Australian parent Scenic Tours.
