Coppola lodge in Belize offers cave outings

By Felicity Long
Blancaneaux LodgeFrancis Ford Coppola’s 20-room Blancaneaux Lodge in Belize launched a series of cave explorations within the Maya Mountain Massif, a collection of 12 protected, biodiverse wilderness areas in Central America.

The cave explorations, available throughout 2012, are suitable for all ages and range from the easily accessible Rio Frio Cave, where guests are guided through a dry, tubelike cave with natural light, to the strenuous Actun Tunichil Mucnal Cave excursion, which includes swimming and hiking in confined spaces.

Other outings include water tubing through interconnected caves in the Caves Branch Nohuch Che’en Reserve during early morning hours to miss the cruise passengers who also visit this popular attraction.

Rates at Blancaneaux start at $255 for a garden-view cabana during the summer season.
