At Disney Cruise Line’s private Bahamian isle, Castaway Cay, not all of the attractions are above ground.
In a conversation onboard the new Disney Fantasy with President Karl Holz, TC learned that snorkelers get a neat surprise. “We’ve got statues of Mickey and Minnie Mouse under the water, near the family beach area,” Holz said. “It’s a nice surprise for people who see it, and I don’t know how many of them do.”
Disney also had submerged a model of the submarine featured in “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” which Disney turned into a movie decades ago.
“That sub model hasn’t stood up well to the saltwater, though,” confided Holz. “I guess we’ll have to replace it at some point.”
