New entrant takes delivery of 747

Baltia Air Lines, which has been attempting to start U.S.-Russia service since 1989, said it took delivery of its first aircraft, a Boeing 747.

Subject to government approvals, the company plans to launch with New York-St. Petersburg service, later adding Riga, Latvia; Kiev, Ukraine; Moscow; and Minsk, Belarus.
