Report: Air India flight crew dukes it out

By Jerry Limone

Two cabin crew members came to blows with the pilot and co-pilot aboard an Air India flight on Saturday, reports the Times of India.

According to the report, the fight happened while the airplane was flying over Pakistan on a flight from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, to Lucknow, India. From Lucknow, the flight flew to Delhi as scheduled.

There were unconfirmed reports that at one stage the cockpit was unmanned during the fight. The Times of India said 106 passengers were aboard the plane.

One of the persons involved in the incident, a 24-year-old flight attendant, filed a molestation charge against the pilots. According to the Times of India, the pilots refute the molestation charge, saying the accusation was an attempt to cover for a colleague who made a hostile entry into the cockpit.

Air India has ordered an inquiry and grounded the staff members involved.
