Scottish carrier collapses

Scotland-based Flyglobespan was placed into administration on Wednesday, and all scheduled flights were canceled.

Appointed administrator PricewaterhouseCoopers UK said the airline was in contact with about 5,000 customers who were either booked or traveling on Flyglobespan.

The grounding of Flyglobespan occurred after an attempt to secure a funding package failed this week.

Flyglobespan operated scheduled service from five airports in the U.K. and Ireland to 24 destinations, mostly in Europe. Its main bases were in the Scottish cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
