Short's Travel Management acquires Executive Travel

Shorts Travel Management, a predominantly corporate agency headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, acquired the assets of Executive Travel of North Kansas City.

Short's Travel, which had a volume of $177 million, including $66 million in ARC sales, in 2005, acquired the physical assets, leases and contracts of Executive Travel. Short's Travel did not take on any of Executive Travel's debt, a Short's Travel spokesman said.

With all of its business in corporate travel, Executive Travel has annual sales of $20 million, the spokesman said. The terms of the acquisition of the travel management company were not disclosed.

Shorts Travel, which has some 120 employees, said Executive Travels 20 full-times employees were offered positions with the newly expanded firm.

Founded in 1946 in Waterloo, Iowa, Shorts Travel moved its operations to Kansas City in 2001, when it merged with Passport Travel. Shorts Travel has offices in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri and New Jersey.
