Shorts Travel Management, a predominantly
corporate agency headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, acquired
the assets of Executive Travel of North Kansas City.
Short's Travel, which
had a volume of $177 million, including $66 million in ARC sales,
in 2005, acquired the physical assets, leases and contracts of
Executive Travel. Short's Travel did not take on
any of Executive Travel's debt, a Short's Travel spokesman
said.
With all of its
business in corporate travel, Executive Travel has annual sales of
$20 million, the spokesman said. The
terms of the acquisition of the travel management company were not
disclosed.
Shorts Travel,
which has some 120 employees, said Executive Travels 20 full-times
employees were offered positions with the newly expanded
firm.
Founded in 1946 in
Waterloo, Iowa, Shorts Travel moved its operations to Kansas City
in 2001, when it merged with Passport Travel. Shorts Travel has
offices in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri and
New Jersey.
