Disney World to get luxury resort homes

By Jerry Limone

Disney is developing Golden Oak, a residential resort community at the Disney World Resort in Orlando.

Golden Oak will offer single-family homes priced between $1.5 million and $8 million, with fewer than 30 home sites available for sale this year, Disney said.

Disney anticipates that the first homes will be completed in 2011. The development could eventually include 450 homes, according to the company.

Disney’s "Imagineers," who design the company’s theme parks and attractions worldwide, will design Golden Oak, a gated community that will include a private clubhouse and the Four Seasons Resort Orlando.

Golden Oak plans to offer residents access to some Four Seasons amenities, including the spa, restaurants, golf course and event space.

Conservation areas will make up almost half of the 980-acre development, Disney said.
