Turkey will get its first Fairmont hotel when the Fairmont Quasar Istanbul debuts in 2016.

The 210-room hotel will be part of the Quasar Istanbul mixed-use project being developed out of what was previously the Mecidiyekoy Liqueur and Cognac Factory.

The project will include two 41-story towers that will house the hotel and luxury residences. The hotel will have about 22,000 square feet of meeting space and a spa.

Fairmont is among hotel companies looking to benefit from increasing tourism numbers in Istanbul, which straddles Europe and Asia and draws visitors from both Western and Eastern cultures.

Jumeirah Group, Morgans Hotel Group and Viceroy Hotels & Resorts have either entered the Istanbul market since the beginning of last year or have announced plans to do so within the next two years.
