The Gaylord Opryland Resort has been hit by the widespread flooding in central Tennessee.
Floodwaters hit the hotel Monday morning, as the adjacent Cumberland River rose to levels not seen in 50 years. Gaylord said 1,500 guests and employees were safely evacuated Sunday.
The company said it is too early to determine how long the hotel will be closed, but said it will likely by shuttered for several months.
Gaylord, which said the hotel is protected by levees and was built to the 100-year flood standard, will assess the damage as soon as it is feasible to do so. The company said it carries $50 million in flood insurance that covers business interruption and property damage.
Over the next 24 hours, the company said it will determine how to arrange for conventions that are booked for the next several months as well as a remediation plan once the full extent of the damage has been determined.
