Kauai lands Islands' first Wyndham Grand property

By Shane Nelson

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts has announced that the 322-room unit luxury resort currently under construction on 25 acres at Kauai's Poipu Beach will be Hawaii's first Wyndham Grand property.

Construction began on what will be the Kaloa Landing at Poipu Beach Wyndham Grand Resort in June 2008.

"Customers are still seeking thoughtfully planned, high-end vacation opportunities in desirable locations like Kauai's south shore, with luxurious resort amenities to complement their interests and lifestyle," Kent England, president of Poipu Beach Villas, said in a statement. "We are delighted to add the Wyndham name to this spectacular resort, which will create an exciting new destination in the highly popular Hawaiian market."

The resort property and residential development will feature one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom luxury residences. Additional resort facilities will include a central pool with water slide, cascading waterfalls and swim-through grotto, four lagoon-style pools, several hot tubs, a state-of-the-art fitness center, day spa, poolside bar and grill, covered parking and semiprivate elevators.

San Diego's Azul Hospitality Group will manage the property.
