MGM Resorts International will pitch what would be its first hotel-casino in Canada, after reaching a joint-venture agreement with developer Cadillac Fairview to build a project in the Toronto area.

MGM Resorts didn’t disclose the proposed scope of the resort or when it would open. It did say that the development would include a permanent Cirque du Soleil show as well as a restaurant helmed by Toronto-based celebrity chef Mark McEwan.

Toronto-based Cadillac Fairview, which is owned by the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, owns more than $20 billion in real estate, including Toronto’s Eaton Centre and Simcoe Place shopping centers.
