The new owners of the Seven Stars Resort in Turks and Caicos will close the property in September for upgrades in services and amenities.
The resort is targeting an October reopening, according to Joanne Hogg, director of sales and marketing.
Seven Stars was purchased by SS Investor Group, comprised of 50 condominium owners. The group named EOS Hotel Management Co. to operate and manage Seven Stars.
The new management company is led by Eoin O'Sullivan, who is also the new managing director of the condo-resort. O'Sullivan said Seven Stars would be brought to "five-star luxury" within the next few months.
The 120-unit property opened in May 2008 on Grace Bay Beach on the island of Providenciales.
"Under the new management structure, a more aggressive sales and marketing campaign will be implemented to achieve desired occupancy levels," Hogg said.
"It will take time to reach the high occupancy levels enjoyed by some of our Grace Bay neighbors," she added.
Accommodations at Seven Stars range from studios to four-bedroom penthouse suites. Almost all of the units are available as rentals.
Facilities include two restaurants, a spa/fitness center, water sports and tennis. Nearby activities include golf, diving, day sails and bonefishing.
The resort takes its name from the seven stars of the Pleiades constellation. According to Greek mythology, the stars represent the seven daughters of the god Atlas and the goddess Pleione.
