Officials are gearing up for Tianguis Turistico 2012, set for March 25-28 in Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit.
Mexico’s largest tourism trade show had been held in Acapulco since 1975, but the Ministry of Tourism broke tradition this year in order to promote other regions of the country.
Riviera Nayarit will host the welcome reception on March 25 at the Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, a fishing village on Banderas Bay 15 miles from Puerto Vallarta.
Tianguis delegates will board yachts and boats at the marina for a sunset view of the bay. The menu for the event will feature regional dishes prepared by Patricia Quintana, a chef known as Mexico’s culinary ambassador, and a team of 16 chefs from Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit.
Other events planned during Tianguis include cultural performances and golf tournaments in addition to the trade show for the 6,000 expected participants.
Puerto Vallarta’s conference center will serve as the venue for the show, meetings and press conferences.
Delegates will be accommodated in a number of properties in both destinations. Details and event schedules are available at www.tianguisturistico.com.
