Red Roof Inn has unveiled a new hotel prototype that upgrades bathrooms, technology and bedding.
New bathrooms feature granite countertops, vessel sinks and oversized walk-in showers with rain-flow showerheads. Red Roof will also add wireless Internet and flat-screen TVs that will be outfitted with auto-sensing remote jack packs, which enable guests to interface their electronic devices with a portable video game player on their in-room TV display.
In addition, rooms will have spacious workspaces with ergonomic seating and plush bedding.
Red Roof said new lobbies will have lots of natural light, a decorative stone wall, a lounge area and an exercise facility.
Red Roof described its redesigned rooms as offering "chic minimalism."
"Our detail-oriented redesign gives travelers everything they need and then some. It's the basics kicked up a notch," said Red Roof CEO Joseph Wheeling. "The new, cost-efficient, flexible prototype will also fuel and accelerate demand for the brand by investors. It gives us the blueprint to enter new markets."
Red Roof's first location with the new prototype will be in Beaumont, Texas. The hotel is currently under construction.
