Melia Baha Mar lobby renderingRenovations are underway at the Melia Nassau Beach with the first phase of the $19 million renovation slated for completion by November.

The resort on Nassau's Cable Beach, a former Sheraton, will remain open throughout the redesign.

All renovations are expected to be completed by early 2016, when the hotel will be renamed Melia at Baha Mar.

The resort will be the only all-inclusive resort in the $3.5 billion Baha Mar complex, whose opening has been pushed back from December to spring 2015.

In the first phase of Melia's redesign, the 694 guestrooms will receive modern décor and a private patio or balcony.

The resort will introduce The Level, a Melia signature service that offers a private pool and beach area, a check-in area in an exclusive lounge, and preferred reservations for restaurants.

Melia Nassau Beach has three dining options: Aqua with Italian fare; the Market Place, an open-kitchen buffet restaurant serving three meals a day; and O'Grille, open for lunch and dinner in a beachside ambience.

As part of the redesign, the terrace at Market Place will be expanded to create a Caribbean feel.

New eateries will be added, including Cilantro with Mexican cuisine; Nikkei with Japanese, Cantonese and Peruvian dishes; the Black Angus steakhouse; and the gastro bar Estavida with tapas and cocktails.

Melia's Kids & Co. facilities and amenities will be upgraded while a Kids & Co. guestroom category will be introduced.

Additional property enhancements include changing the existing concierge desk into a lobby bar and redesigning the pools and outdoor landscape.
