W Hollywood opens

By Jerry Limone

The W Hollywood Hotel & Residences has opened at the famous intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street.

In Hollywood style, guests walk a red carpet to arrive at the check-in desk and lobby.

The 305-room hotel features Drai's Hollywood, a nightclub from Victor Drai, whose other nightclubs include Tryst at Wynn Las Vegas and XS at Encore.

French restaurant Delphine Eatery & Bar is run by Innovative Dining Group, the restaurant group behind Los Angeles establishments such as Sushi Roku, Katana and BOA Steakhouse.

HEI Hotels & Resorts and Gatehouse Capital own the $350 million property. Development was made possible through a partnership with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority, as the W sits atop the Metro station at Hollywood and Vine.

The W project is part of the transit authority's Joint Development Program, which seeks to encourage development that links with public transportation. As part of the project, the entrance to the Metro station was redesigned.
