Yotel's hotel pods are coming to New York City in 2011, when the company plans to open a 663-cabin hotel near Times Square.
The Yotel Times Square will be the brand's largest hotel and its first property outside of an airport location. Yotel has airport terminal hotels at London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Amsterdam's Schiphol.
Yotel says its pods are inspired by first-class airline cabins and are "everything you would expect from a luxury hotel in a small space."
Each 170-square-foot cabin will have a retractable bed with percale cotton sheets, a bathroom with shower, a flat-screen TV, free WiFi and the purple mood lighting for which the brand is known.
The hotel will be part of a development at 42nd Street and 10th Avenue to include a theater and residences.
Yotel founder Simon Woodroffe said, "Yotel will bring a unique mix of fun, excitement and luxury to New York, and all at an affordable price."
The New York hotel is being co-designed by the Rockwell Group and Softroom and will feature a lounge and outside terrace space.
