Agents share $25,000 purse from Las Vegas scavenger hunt

By Damon Hodge

US Airways Vacations, in partnership with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, recently hosted its Fourth Annual $25,000 Vegas Scavenger Hunt, a competition where registered agents had a chance to show off their sleuthing skills to win a trip to Las Vegas and their share of $25,000 in air travel. The scavenger hunt took place Feb. 16 and featured 24 travel agents.

Selected based on sales to Las Vegas between July and November, agents were split into six teams where they followed clues, picking up various items at hotels along the Strip and downtown. The winning team, four travel agents from agencies based in Florida, Massachusetts, South Carolina and Texas won their share of $25,000 in US Airways Gift Cards.

The winning team members were: Angela Brown of Dugans Travel, Dallas; Mel Nobel of the Travel Guy, Panama City, Fla.; Pamela Russo of Travel Reports, Boston; and Patricia Whitmire of LeisureNet Travel, Greenville, S.C.

"It was our pleasure to partner again with the LVCVA on our fourth Scavenger Hunt," Chris Ames, director of product and sales for US Airways Vacations, said in a press statement. "This is always our spotlight event bringing the best USV agents and the best of Las Vegas together for a rewarding VIP experience."

"The US Airways Scavenger Hunt has become a successful incentive program for Las Vegas," John Meyer, leisure sales executive for LVCVA, said in a statement. "It not only helps us increase bookings, but also enables us to reward top-producing travel agents while educating them about our ever-changing destination. We greatly appreciate the business that these agents bring to Las Vegas."
