Lindblad Expeditions taps hotel exec to replace founder as CEO

By Jerry Limone

Lindblad Expeditions has named Tom Murray CEO, replacing company founder Sven Lindblad.

The company said Lindblad is turning his full attention and efforts to building strategic partnerships and programs for conservation, education and community development. He also will continue to represent the company at industry events, said a Lindblad Expeditions spokeswoman.

Murray most recently served as InterContinental Hotels Group's COO for the Americas.

"With more than 28 years in hospitality, Tom brings to Lindblad Expeditions strong expertise in all aspects of the travel industry, with particular strength in operations and business development," the company said in a statement.

Lindblad Expeditions operates expedition cruises in partnership with National Geographic. The company's core destinations are the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Ocean, Antarctica, Alaska, Baja California, Central America and the Galapagos.
