ASTA will hold its 2014 Global Convention aboard the Norwegian Breakaway on a seven-night Bermuda cruise out of New York, Sept. 14-21. It will be ASTA's first convention at sea.
ASTA will reach out to members who have not recently attended an ASTA convention, said Susan Verdolini-Sheats, ASTA's vice president, business development.
ASTA opted for the cruise after polling members, those who attend ASTA events and those who don’t.
“The No. 1 thing they were interested in was a primary city,” said Verdolini-Sheats. “And they liked the idea of a cruise, specifically a new ship.”
Attendees will be able to disembark in Bermuda if they can’t stay for the entire cruise, said Verdolini-Sheats. But, she said, because the ship departs and returns on weekend days, the conference will take five weekdays, as opposed to four week days for the land-based meeting.
Verdolini-Sheats said that Norwegian Cruise Line is offering “significantly reduced pricing” for the cruise.
