More routes added for Uniteds Ted

United will further expand its low-fare operation, Ted, later this year, starting Sept. 7 with the San Francisco-Ontario, Calif., route, which United dropped in 2001.

United routes converting to Ted service on Sept. 7 are Denver-Miami, Washington (Dulles)-Miami and Los Angeles-Phoenix, followed by Chicago routes to Miami and San Juan in October. Routes from Denver and Washington (Dulles) to Cancun, Mexico, convert on Nov. 15, followed by Washington (Dulles)-San Juan on Dec. 18.

Spirit spreads in the Caribbean

Spirit Airlines will add nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Montego Bay, Jamaica, Nov. 10 and between Fort Lauderdale and Kingston, Jamaica, Dec. 15. The line also announced a new nonstop flight from Orlando to Nassau, beginning Nov. 10.

And Ponce makes tres for JetBlue

With JetBlues June 17 launch of a daily nonstop flight between New York (Kennedy) and Ponce, Puerto Rico, it becomes the only airline to serve three Puerto Rican gateways nonstop from New York (San Juan, Aguadilla and Ponce).

More port calls for Bermuda

Bermuda picked up a few spring cruise-ship calls for its 2006 season.

Carnival Cruise Lines said last week it will call in Bermuda once in 2006 and again in 2007 on the Carnival Legend. The six-day cruises from New York begin April 20, 2006, and April 29, 2007, and visit Kings Wharf. The ship also will call in Newport, R.I.

Costa Cruises will sail two Bermuda cruises on the Costa Magica as part of the Magicas  first Caribbean season and called the itinerary the highlight of the ships winter cruises. The two voyages depart from Fort Lauderdale April 21 and 28.

Delta adds Cincinnati-Jamaica

Delta will launch nonstop weekend service from Cincinnati to Montego Bay, Jamaica, June 4.

The Saturday and Sunday flights will be Deltas second route to Jamaica, in addition to Atlanta, where daily capacity increased by 102 seats June 1 when the carrier switched to larger aircraft.

Olivier Bottois was named CEO and managing director of Oheka Castle and Oheka Management Corp. in Huntington, N.Y. He will oversee the $20 million transformation of the Long Island property into a 40-room boutique hotel. Bottois previously was employed by the Lake Placid Lodge in upstate New York ... Holland America Line promoted Kelly Clark to vice president and general counsel, responsible for legal matters for the 12-ship fleet and HALs subsidiaries: Windstar Cruises, Westmark Hotels and Gray Line of Alaska and Seattle. Clark had served as the lines assistant vice president and acting general counsel ... HAL also promoted William Morani Jr. to vice president of environmental compliance programs (ECP). Morani joined HAL as director of ECP in May 2003. He replaces Rene Roussel,  who will return to fleet operations as vice president, nautical and compliance ... Cynthia Draws-Smith was named director of sales and marketing for the Washington Terrace Hotel. Draws-Smith was previously director of sales and marketing for the Jefferson, also in Washington ... Groople hired Eliot Cobb as its CFO. Cobb cofounded eBags and was its CFO ...Doug Gennardo was appointed area director of sales and marketing for Grande Lakes Orlando, an estate that includes a Ritz-Carlton and a JW Marriott. Gennardo was previously director of sales and marketing for the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix ... Danny Watts was promoted to director of rooms for the Stonewall Resort in Weston, W.Va. Watts was previously the resorts front office and revenue manager ... Raymond Vermolen was named hotel manager of the InterContinental Barclay New York. Vermolen was previously the food and beverage director at the InterContinental Phoenicia Beirut in Lebanon ... Beverly and Walter Plachta were named general managers of Nisbet Plantation in Nevis. The husband and wife team most recently managed Pine Cay, a private island in Turks and Caicos.
