UPDATED: Alaska, JetBlue not matching United's new card policy

By Nadine Godwin

Alaska Airlines said it has no plans to cut off agencies from access to its merchant accounts when agencies book its air services.

The carrier’s reassurance comes in the wake of United’s move to cut off a handful of agencies from access to its merchant accounts, starting July 20.

JetBlue spokesman Bryan Baldwin said passing on credit card fees to agents "is not something we are considering at present." Baldwin also said JetBlue is "continually focused on ways to reduce costs, whether it be credit card fees or distribution."

To date, no other U.S. airlines have responded to Travel Weekly's request for comment about United's new credit card policy.

The story was updated to add JetBlue's comments.
