UPDATED: Maloney leaves ASTA

WilliamMaloneyASTA said on Friday that CEO William Maloney has resigned and departed the organization. Maloney had served as ASTA’s CEO since 1999.

"I wish ASTA well," Maloney said. "I’ve been delighted to continue the metamorphosis of the company and agents, and am proud of both."

In a statement, ASTA President Chris Russo said, "Bill has served ASTA and the travel industry well, and I appreciate all of his hard work. He carried us all through difficult times in the travel industry. I wish him well in his future endeavors."

Maloney is a 30-year veteran of the travel industry. Prior to joining ASTA, he was the vice president of travel industry sales for Hertz Corp. in Park Ridge, N.J.

ASTA said it would begin a search for a new CEO immediately.
