Austrian tourism interests are in a buoyant mood, owing to very positive 1998 visitor statistics. After years of steadily dropping figures, the country logged a 1 million increase in international arrivals last year. Of course, the statistics didn't break out how many of Austria's extra visitors exclaimed, upon deplaning, "G'day, mate! Throw a shrimp on the barbie. Hey... where are all the 'roos?"

The U.S. Postal Service's Allegheny region is seeking bids on its travel account, previously held by SatoTravel. Let's hope this doesn't leave SatoTravel disgruntled.

Reacting to a Florida travel company's use of its name in the marketing of outside-agent kits, ASTA said it will vigorously defend its trademark and decried its unauthorized use. Whoops. Does this mean I can't launch my line of ASTA designer boxer shorts?
