GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Canada's RBC Insurance expanded its U.S. operations, based here, to include travel insurance and named Art Kienle senior vice president, U.S. travel insurance, to lead the expansion effort.

Prior to coming to RBC, Kienle spent 23 years with American Express.

RBC's travel insurance products, which include trip cancellation, trip interruption and emergency assistance, are branded in the U.S. as RBC Travel Protection and will be distributed through travel agents, initially in 34 states, the company said. RBC expects to sell nationwide, subject to regulatory approvals, by year's end.

The Liberty Marketing Corporation in Greenville is the administrator for RBC Travel Protection.

The travel insurance products are underwritten by American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida and American Security Insurance Company. RBC is a registered trademark of the Royal Bank of Canada.
