When Station Casinos purchased the Palms Casino Resort in May 2016, there were lots of questions about what that would mean for the just-off-Strip resort that walks a unique line between tourist hot spot and locals' joint.

Well, we have a few early answers to that query in the form of a new eatery filling one of the staple requirements of the Vegas casino: the 24-hour cafe.

Lucky Penny, which opened July 1, will serve a breakfast/lunch/dinner menu of American cooking interspersed with international dishes in a setting infused with midcentury modern elements. Mornings bring temptations like Nutella pancakes, an "eggsadilla" and breakfast pizza, while sandwiches, salads and heartier plates like pastas and the requisite Chinese entrees will round out the offerings. There's also a full bar and a list of boozy shakes for those who feel like indulging. That is, if you're not too full from that waffle grilled cheese with tomato soup.

Open 24 hours, seven days a week, the restaurant is the resort's first major development under the Station flag, but more changes are on their way. The short-lived world's largest Hooters will become Social Table, a grill concept with poolside dining and craft beers, and the Bistro Buffet has closed to make room for a refreshed buffet slated to open this winter.
