Brussels-based Air Belgium will begin operations on April
30.
The carrier, which aims to specialize in long-haul flights
to Asia, will make Brussels-Hong Kong its first route. Flights will operate on
Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Air Belgium is beginning operations with a fleet of four
Airbus A340-300s with a lie-flat business class and premium economy and economy
seating.
The carrier will operate out of Brussels South Airport,
which is 43 miles south of the larger Brussels Airport.
Air Belgium is jointly owned by Asian and European
shareholders and was initially capitalized with 20 million euros, the airline
says on its website.
