Disney World is placing rock barriers along the shore of all
of its resort beaches.
The move comes in the aftermath of the June 14 death of Lane
Graves, a 2-year-old boy who was taken by an alligator while playing in the water
near Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, where he was staying with his family.
The rock barriers are expected to be completed by the end of
September. They will be located along beaches at Coronado Springs Resort, Fort
Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge, the Contemporary Resort, the Polynesian Resort,
Disney’s Beach Club, Disney’s Yacht Club and the Grand Floridian.
Along the Seven Seas Lagoon, where the Grand Floridian,
Polynesian and Contemporary are located, the rock barriers will replace a rope
fence that Disney put up almost immediately after Graves’ death.
