Kempinski plans to open a luxury hotel in Havana this June.

The Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana is being redeveloped out of the Manzana de Gomez building in Old Havana, which opened in 1917 as a shopping center.

The hotel will have 246 guestrooms, a rooftop pool, a Resense-branded spa and a cigar lounge

Geneva-based Kempinski operates 75 hotels worldwide, but the Havana hotel will be its first in the Americas.

The hotel is owned by Grupo de Turismo Gaviota, which also owns the Four Points by Sheraton Havana. Last June, that hotel became the first Cuba property in almost six decades to be overseen by a U.S. hotel company.
