Marriott International has added its name to the Protea Hotels division that it acquired in 2014, and has integrated the chain into its reservation and operations systems.

In what’s known in the hotel industry as a brand endorsement, Protea Hotels has been renamed Protea Hotels by Marriott. Marriott has also updated Protea’s logo.

Marriott acquired Protea in 2014 for about $200 million. The acquisition boosted Marriott’s Africa presence to more than 100 hotels and made Marriott the continent’s largest hotel company.
