ROYAL
RESORTS, a Cancun-based vacation ownership company with
five properties in Cancun, has brought its villa community concept
to the Riviera Maya. The company said it will open a resort
community called the Royal Haciendas comprising twin developments,
each with 252 villas -- Hacienda del Sol and Hacienda de la Luna --
scheduled for completion by 2009. Each villa will have two bedrooms
and bathrooms, living and dining areas, fully equipped kitchens and
a terrace. Amenities will include flat-screen TVs, DVDs, wireless
Internet access and a whirlpool tub on the terrace. In addition to
the two villa developments, Royal Haciendas will feature an 18-hole
golf course, a town center with restaurants and shops and private
residences.
SPIRIT
VACATIONS is promoting Spirit Airlines new Saturday
nonstop flight between Tampa and Cancun with three- and seven-night
packages to a number of hotels. Three-night packages start at $319
per person, double, at the Imperial Las Perlas, while seven-night
packages start at $549, also at the Imperial Las Perlas. All
packages include roundtrip air fare on Spirit, roundtrip airport

ALASKA
AIRLINES has applied for DOT approval to fly nonstop
between Los Angeles and La Paz and between San Francisco and
Cancun. Alaska plans to operate the Los Angeles-La Paz flights
year-round starting Oct. 30; the San Francisco-Cancun flight would
operate seasonally from Oct. 29 to April 28. Initially, Alaska
plans to offer nonstop service three days a week on both
routes.
