Harrison's Cave reopens in Barbados

Closed for renovation since July 2006, Harrison's Cave in Barbados has reopened.

The limestone cavern, complete with stalactites, stalagmites, underground streams and a 40-foot waterfall, has a fleet of six new trams, two of which are wheelchair accessible. The attraction also has a new ventilation system, a new drainage system and new lighting.

A new Cave Interpretive Center offers a multimedia presentation that can accommodate up to 40 visitors. Harrison's Cave also features interactive displays, an enhanced passenger boarding area, a souvenir shop and a snack bar. Hard hats are required and provided, primarily to keep dripping water off the heads of visitors.

The cave is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the last tour departs at 4 p.m. Admission is $40 for adults and $20 for children 16 and under.
