Sandals Resorts International is upgrading the WiFi network in its 6,000 guestrooms at 23 Sandals and Beaches properties on six Caribbean islands.

WiFi also will be available at outdoor access points on each property.

The new system, operated by Ruckus Wireless, will deliver high-speed access and connectivity to smartphones, laptops, tablets and other mobile devices, according to Bobby Stewart, Sandals' director of guest networks.

In addition, Sandals will roll out a mobile app with free international calling capabilities to the U.S. and Canada as well as to U.K. landlines.

Local calls to Jamaican landlines and to any of the seven Sandals properties in Jamaica also will be complimentary.
