TravelSafe refuses Renaissance policies: Travel Weekly

TravelSafe refuses Renaissance policies

TravelSafe, Wyomissing, Pa., became the latest insurance carrier to refuse to issue trip-cancellation policies to clients of Renaissance Cruises.

The carrier, a division of Chester Perfetto Agency in Wyomissing, informed travel agencies it was dropping Renaissance because its underwriter, Commercial Union Insurance Co., would no longer underwrite the policies.

As reported, a number of insurance carriers no longer insure Renaissance's clients because of the line's stiff penalties for cancellations.

For example, there is no grace period for cancelling without a penalty, which begins at $750 per person. Starting just under four-months before departure, the penalty is 100% of the cost of the cruise.

Renaissance said recently it would maintain "strict adherence" to the policy, citing the line's low tariffs.
