Windstar Cruises unveiled a new logo as it begins a transition from an exclusively sail-powered fleet to a mixed fleet that includes three former Seabourn cruise ships.
The new logo features a dark blue capital W, with a turquoise flourish weaving between the tops of the letters and a star at the end of the flourish. Windstar says the emblem draws its inspiration from soft breezes, gentle waves and clear nights.
The previous logo looked like two flowing turquoise ribbons crossed through each other, slightly fading at the ends, giving an impression of movement or flight.
"We wanted a refreshed look that keeps pace with the company as we enter into a new era of growth as the market leader in small-ship cruising, yet still reflects our heritage of sailing,” said Hans Birkholz, president and CEO of Windstar. He said a website relaunch is planned for June.
Windstar plans to rechristen the first of the three ships it will acquire from Seabourn on May 5 in a ceremony in Barcelona. The ship, formerly the Seabourn Pride, will be known as Star Pride for Windstar.
